Hi, I’m Thomas (they/them), I’m a Game Designer from Whadjuk (Perth, Western Australia). I was always creating and exploring as a child, be it making pillow forts for my sister, climbing trees, drawing, building train tracks, I could go on. I loved math and with my dad working in IT I had experiences to dabble on computers.

Fast forward to the end of 2012 and I’ve barely graduated high school. With no direction and low motivation my parents insisted I go to university and ‘just do something’. So I applied for Game Design to ‘just do something’. Slowly over time though, 2 things happened. I become more confident in myself again; and, I realised designing games involved things I love; problem solving, creativity, maths, logic, conceiving and building worlds, technology, and just the nerdyness that is video games.

After graduating university (2018), I started looking through job postings across the games industry. Countless times I saw ‘experience shipping a game’. So I said, fine I’ll do it myself.

I began working on what would become Umbra: Journey Home in late 2017 and shipping in early 2022. I learnt a whole~ lot from it. Afterwards I worked on smaller pieces to expand my skills like Swipe Slash Strategise. In late 2022 I started Aim High Lofi, a whimsical FPS.

While I still have a lifetime of things to learn, over the years I have become more confident in myself and my abilities; both exploring and rekindling the parts of life that I enjoy.
